When Preacher Steele Montgomery arrives at the Smoky Mountain town of Peculiar Cove in 1866, he meets Crazy Bets, a beautiful woman tortured by memories of the war. In helping her confront her demons, he rediscovers what he himself has lost--and finds a love unlike anything either could have imagined.
I would recommend this as a light, uncomplicated read, but by no means is it the run of the mill read. As I read I was keep guessing as to what had happened in her past. There were several funny moments, her tooth, the washing machine... So the right amount of humor was written. I feel like the conflicts were resolved in a timely and understandable manner. The secondary characters brought humor and conflict to the book without detracting from the romance.
