This is a great Algebra 1 book. It is good solid math from beginning to end, with carefully thought out explanations and example problems, and excellent exercises. The book does *not* have all the silliness and distractions that so many math books seem to have these days; it's just good, clearly explained math. The only negative is the last two chapters. They are great chapters, but they are material that is typically covered in Algebra 2 (exponential functions and logarithms). So if you are using this book for Algebra 1, the students have to carry around an extra two hundred pages all year. That's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. It's still a great textbook.
