In the decades since the first Zatoichi have successfully changed the world of warfare, human-AI integration is a popularly accepted and sought-after prospect. Technology has evolved and fused with every major sector of industry. Business, medicine, infrastructure, all have their respective Artificial Intelligences boosting precision and accelerating progress.
On a smaller scale, Aina has witnessed the complexity of socio-technological evolution. She's seen minds augmented to gifted degrees by Zatoichi interfacing, and she's seen how the integration can corrupt, a cancerous chip embedding deeper into its host until the two are fatally inseparable. Her research will take her deep within Abraxas, where she will meet Logos hosted by the volatile John de Gris - arch rival to the transmigrated Feng, father of much of Abraxas' technology.In the belly of Abraxas, Aina will learn the true meaning of godhood when she is selected for union with Sophia, and will experience up close how the officials striving for dominance have warped, and been warped by, AI.
