This book was the first one ever that I read by Marcia Evanick. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because I read it long ago and couldn't remember if, anything, I disliked about this book. The plot is absolutely adorable, and so are the two main characters. My memory is a bit hazy but the plot goes something like this - the heroine had a bad childhood (something tragic happened) so she grows up afraid of the dark. She lives alone and has all the lights in her home lit up each night. Our heroine is also an artist. The hero is her good friend's older brother. He also happens to be her next door neighbor. He's a farmer who had to shoulder the responsibilities of taking care of his family (mother and sisters) after their father died. Now the sisters are grwon and he can finally settle down to do what he wants with his life. I can't give anything more than this because it will ruin the storyline. But know that it involves a popular Christmas song.
