Nancy Patricia Pelosi, n e D'Alesandro, was born on March 26, 1940, in Baltimore, Maryland. The daughter of Thomas D'Alesandro Jr., a prominent mayor and congressman, Pelosi's early life was steeped in the world of politics. Raised in a family dedicated to public service, she inherited a passion for governance and community engagement from a young age.Pelosi's educational journey led her to Trinity College in Washington, D.C., where she graduated in 1962. Shortly thereafter, she met Paul Pelosi, a businessman who would become her lifelong partner. The couple married in 1963 and initially settled in New York City before finding their permanent home in San Francisco. Together, they raised five children, and Pelosi devoted herself to her family while also engaging in volunteer work for the Democratic Party.Her volunteer efforts in the 1960s marked the beginning of a long and illustrious career in politics. Pelosi's dedication and hard work within the Democratic Party saw her rise through the ranks, eventually becoming the chair of the California Democratic Party. Her political acumen and leadership skills were recognized in 1987 when she was elected to Congress in a special election, representing California's 11th congressional district, which encompasses much of San Francisco.
