Rival factions vie for political control in the far future city of Necromunda, but when Sinden Kass realizes he controls the power supply of a struggling township, he finds himself hunted and wanted.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Set in the far, far away future, there is an underworld colony called Necromunda. The city is set up much like a hive. The colony is built in layers. The closer to the surface a person lives, the more wealthy he is. The deeper a person lives, the more poor he is. Needless-to-say, in the deepest levels reside the most brutal people who struggle each day just to survive. The levels not only reflect the status of the people, but also in the status of the technology. Those in the deeper levels have forgotten much of the technology that exists. Items that would have made the impossible, possible for those living in Junktion. Sinden Kass is a lamplighter in the town of Junktion. Lamplighters are such a common sight to all Junktioners that most everyone knows them by sight. Yet their community is beginning to pull itself apart. Gangs fight for territory and better weapons. And life in the Underhive is steadily growing worse for Kass and his kit. Someone is murdering off the lamplighters. Kass is about to have the worst time of his life! ***** Before this book I never imagined that there could be so many different types of gangs and I had never seen a plague-zombie. Author Matthew Farrer has created an interesting way of life for the scarred up characters in this novel. One thing is for sure, I never grew bored. The story opens up sounding like a narrative from a soldier undergoing fire. My attention was captured by the very first sentence. When you pick up this story, be sure you have plenty of free time. You will not want to put it down. I read the entire book in one sitting (and lost a lot of sleep). OUTSTANDING! ***** Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews.
