I would occasionally come into the Chicago area to check on mother and came to know the neighbors in the condo like complex she lived. Mostly elderly in the one bedroom units and from time to time some would pass on or be placed in nursing homes. As quiet as the place appeared, there was always some drama. Like the nice woman who moved into a unit, migrating from an Eastern European country. She purchased the place and flew out having no family or friends near, and maybe a good thing sometimes. After a couple of visits, I was informed that the tough, in appearance, woman had died, and that her body had been lying in the morgue for a month or so because no one would identify her. I asked the condo secretary why not her, but she did not care to get involved. OMG! My next visit, three months later, and informed that her body was still lying in the morgue. My book "Neighbors Cutting Up According to Raymond", is based solely on my mother's neighbors, and nothing to sneeze at.
