James Cobb was born in 1932 in Athens, Alabama. His parents raised their eight children in a home dedicated to faith in God, family, hard work and perserverance. It was not an easy place or time to grow up but James learned at an early age to find opportunities and take advantage of them. He held his first job at age 12 and became an outstanding athelete in junior high and high school. James went on to play football and basketball on a full scholarship to Abilene Christian University and was even invited to play football for the Baltimore Colts upon graduation. He married his college sweetheart, Necia Bishop and they settled in Lubbock, Texas where James coached high school basketball and football. After a few years, he entered the insurance industry and had a successful 30 year career with Southwestern Life Insurance Company. His career took the Cobbs to Abilene, Oklahoma City, Amarillo, Ft Worth and ultimately to Dallas where James was an Executive Vice President with the company. Along the way, two daughters were born, many friendships were formed and memories were made. This book is a collection of those memories with the hope that they may inspire others to Never Give Up!
