The initial section of this reference study examines New Orleans music during the six decades following World War II. This commentary was originally published in 2008 as an article titled "'Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans?' Discovery, Dominance, and Decline of Crescent City Popular Music Influence, 1946-2006". The second section highlights numerous specific recording artists, composers, and producers who manufactured or manifested the New Orleans sound during the golden age of R&B. Both print references and CD resources are featured within this section. Like the previous essay, this material was also originally printed in 2008 under the title "Architects of The New Orleans Sound, 1946-2006: A Bio-bibliography". The last half of this resource guide is devoted to discographic representations of Crescent City songs. Noteworthy single releases performed by New Orleans performers are identified along with examples of successful cover recordings of Big Easy hits by non-Crescent City musicians. The final two sections of this volume features an expansive "General Bibliography" on R&B, soul, rock and pop music, plus an "Appendices" that presents previously published book and CD reviews concerning Dave Bartholomew, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Cosimo Matassa, Aaron Neville, Huey "Piano Smith, and Allen Toussaint.
