I'M WITH YOU, NO MATTER WHAT. On the run from No. 6, Shion moves in with Rat in West Block. Though life outside the comfort of the city is a trial, Shion learns to survive. Meanwhile, back in Chronos, the elite core of No. 6, Safu begins to look into his disappearance only to find herself under arrest And what can Shion possibly do from exile to help his lifelong friend?
Inside the walls of No. 6, the mayor of No. 6 and a scientist are plotting some evil. At the same time, Shion wants to learn more about Rat, but Rat says that Shion should be happy knowing they both have human heartbeats. Shion admits to being attracted to Rat and states everything he’s learned about him so far. Changing the subject, Rat tells Shion to write a message to Karan. Karan reads the slip of paper about Shion being alive and is thankful. Safu shows up at Karan’s door, asking the whereabouts of Shion. Once Safu gets the information, she declares that she will see Shion because she loves him. Karan tries to warn her about the terrible West District, but Safu doesn’t listen. Instead, Safu gets arrested and is taken to a Correctional Facility. While Shion goes to work for Dogkeeper, Rat receives the message from Cravat. Rat decides to keep the new information away from Shion to protect him. Rat pays Dogkeeper to fill in the Correctional Facility’s security system map. After some convincing, Dogkeeper agrees to do it, but she knows the real reason Rat is doing this: to protect Shion from any danger. Shion tries to convince Dogkeeper that everyone, including her customers, is human.
Meanwhile, Yomin (the uncle to one of Karan’s favorite customers) talks to Karan about the truths of No. 6. Later on, Shion wants to find out why Rat hates No. 6. Rat gives Shion the ultimatum: him or No. 6. Shion declares that he’ll always be on Rat’s side no matter what happens. Rat doesn’t believe Shion one bit. Sometime later, Rikiga takes Shion on a shopping spree. In the pile of clothes is Safu’s jacket. Shion demands to know where the cashier got the coat from. The answer: from Dogkeeper who smuggles goods from the Correctional Facility. Shion takes off, determined to hear what Dogkeeper has to say.
Atsuko Asano and Hinoki Kino have done a fantastic job with not only the main story but the bonus stories. It’s sweet to see Rat comfort Shion after Shion’s nightmare. It’s also funny to watch Shion wrap Rat and Dogkeeper around his little finger and melt their hearts at the same time. Every book and its covers have been masterpieces. This series has a beautiful story that I hope everyone will enjoy. I can’t wait to see how close Rat and Shion will get. Will they kiss? I don’t know. We’ll have to wait and see.
