TO OBLITERATE NO. 6... THAT'S WHY I'VE COME. A series of strange incidents cast a pall over No. 6 as it prepares to celebrate its "Holy Day." Meanwhile, in the tunnels beneath the Correctional Facility, Shion and Rat meet with the mysterious "Elder," who reveals the perverse origins of No. 6, and their connection to Rat's past. How will Rat react when Shion begins to touch his most secret scars? No. 6 Volume 6 (Rat Tells Shion the Secret of His Past)
Published by C.M. Bishop , 3 years ago
Rat promises Karan (Shion's mother) that she will see Shion again. In the book, I'm surprised that Dogkeeper acts more of a mother in the book than in the anime. It's cute that Dogkeeper even names the baby Shion. Meanwhile, Rat and Shion meet the elder and discover the hidden secrets behind No. 6. In the process, Rat uncovers his secret about his back burns and the civilization known as the Forest Folk to Shion. Shion discovers that he isn't the first to be attacked by a parasitic bee and live. With this knowledge, Rat and Shion leave the abyss and move forward. In the meantime, No. 6 citizens celebrate the Holy Day only to succumb to the parasitic bees.
I love the No. 6 Volume 6 cover. It looks like Rat is trying to pull Shion back from the scene that Shion is staring at. Atsuko Asano and Hinoki Kino have a gift to create the little bonding moments between Rat and Shion, even amidst the turmoil. I adore Shion for only wanting a future with his friends (such as Rat, Safu, Dogkeeper, and Rikiga) and family (such as Karan). Will Shion be able to save the people closest to him? Or will No. 6 destroy everyone he loves, including Rat? I'll have to read the next book to find out.
