A classic picture book featuring the beloved Harry the Dirty Dog Harry is the not-too-happy recipient of a handmade sweater, and what makes matters worse is that it's a sweater with a pattern of... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I had the Harry stories as a child and loved reading them even when I surpassed that reading level. I was wearing my roses headband the other day that reminds me of this book and a lady said she loved it and I responded, "No Rose's For Harry" she was confused until I briefly told her the story.
I went home and ordered all the Harry books. My son is literally a Rocket Scientist finishing his Ph.D on a Fellowship from NASA and I only got to read the Harry stories for a couple of years when I was pregnant with him, (I read to him every night and he'd kick when I stopped to get a sip of water) and when he was a baby before he wanted me to read technical books about plane engines and rockets. No Harrys for my son. 😕 But I am putting together a box for my future grandkids to temper my anxiousness for them and in goes Harry!!!
I will read them to all of my dogs before they are packed away. 😆
These are the best stories. Harry felt so real as a character when I was young and it really fed into my love for dogs loving Harry so much, that's why I kept reading them and remember the stories to this day. I'm surprised I never named a dog Harry.
No Rose's For Harry is my favorite of the set. It teaches a valuable lesson to children that it's OK not to have something be of your taste or liking but it could be someone else's very favorite. The Harry books resonate kindness and friendship. They should be in every child's bedroom library.
Enjoyed it all over again!

I loved this book as a child and loved it all over again when I read it with my siblings. They enjoyed it all over again as well. It sparked a good talk about our stories of growing up. It was fun!
An Old Favorite

I love this one! Poor Harry doesn't like the roses on his new sweater from Grandma. He keeps trying (and failing) to "lose" it, and becomes depressed. His mood is saved by a bird that swoops in to unravel the sweater for a nest - and Grandma sends Harry a new, better sweater in the end, so everyone winds up happy. Great muted colors and "retro"-style illustrations, too.

My 4 year old daughter loves reading this book by herself; she just can not get enough. It is a lovely companion book to Harry and the Lady Next door.
I love Harry! and his sweaters too!

This is one of the best stories ever.Simple, funny, well constructed, satisfying, It's also my favorite of all the "harry" stories. Wish there were more books like these instead of today's pretentious, shallow, and expensive kids books.
My favorite Harry Book

Of all the Harry Books, this one is my fave. Harry, a white dog with black spots, gets a present from Grandma--a sweater with big roses all over it. He hates it. He gets laughed at when he wears it, so he tries losing it...several times. He is finally rid of the sweater in an imaginative plot sequence that involves a mother bird. It's a sequence that also spares Grandma's feelings, thank goodness! The story ends with Harry receiving a new sweater from Grandma, one he likes very much. It's a white sweater with black spots. The ending is no doubt a reason why the book is a favorite of mine. My two-year-old likes all the Harry Books. The stories contain wonderful twists of plot but are written in simple language. Also, there are only a couple of sentences on each page and the illustrations correspond beautifully to the text (a rare treat, given that the author was not the illustrator), so even though they are recommended for young schoolchildren, toddlers will be able to enjoy these books.
