The Iroquois Confederation was formed by five different tribes; the Mohawk, the Oneida, the Onondaga, the Cayuga, and the Seneca. The confederation was formed between AD 1000 and 1500. The group was joined by the Tuscarora in about 1722. The purpose of the confederation was to end wars among these tribes and to work together for their common welfare.
