The Northstar Focus on Listening and Speaking series is comprehensive. Language presentation and practice address both grammar and functional objectives, like how to make a request or give advice. There is also vocabulary practice. The main listening exercise in each unit is a bit long, so this book is best suited for an intensive or semi-intensive course.Although this book is for adults, most of the topics would work well for teenagers, too.

Clear and well-organized. The authors are obviously both experts on teaching English as a second language. Should be a big help to anyone who is not a native English speaker and would like to improve his or her English-language skills.
