From the acclaimed author of Not Quite a Bride comes a romantic new novel about a woman with a plan--for love, life, marriage, and motherhood--and how one phone call upends it all. When Elizabeth Castle's handsome Beverly Hills boyfriend Daniel McCafferty proposes, she feels like all her hard work has finally paid off. Granted, her fact-checking job for a tabloid TV show isn't exactly the news anchor spot she aspires to, but she's come a long way from the backward hometown she left at eighteen. That is until a lawyer from Victory, California, calls to announce that Elizabeth's best childhood friend has died and left custody of her teenage daughter, Tiffany, to Elizabeth. . . Buck Planter, a former high school football star in Victory, has never forgotten his senior prom date, Lizzie Castle, and her irresistible, too-cool-for-school attitude. He always hoped he'd reconnect with her, but arriving at Elizabeth's doorstep with Tiffany in tow isn't exactly the kind of romantic reunion he'd envisioned. Though fate might have other ideas when at the prospect of instant fatherhood Elizabeth's fianc breaks off their engagement. . . Funny and heartwarming, Not Quite a Mom is a delightfully unexpected story of modern love and accidental motherhood from "an extremely talented author" (Fresh Fiction). I have two toddlers and when they were interrupting me when I was reading this book I actually god irritated so instead of getting my sleep in the middle of the night I woke up to read this book. It has a touching plot, it's downright funny and I fell in love with Buck. This book is on my top 5 list for sure, you gotta read it.

After seeing each other for over seven years the itch struck wealthy Beverly Hills resident Daniel McCafferty so he proposes to his euphoric thirty-two years old girlfriend Elizabeth Castle; the tabloid TV fact checker naturally accepts his proposal as her life goal is to marry Daniel. Once back in her roommate-less Los Angeles apartment Elizabeth immediately calls her best friend since her UCLA undergraduate days Courtney Cambridge with the news. However, her call with Courtney is interrupted by Buck Platner, who took Lizzie to the prom and now is a lawyer from her hometown of Victory, California where 70% of the residents are rednecks and the rest hicks. Buck informs her that her best friend Charla Dearbourne Tatham and her husband died when the pickup they drove exploded. She has been left custody of their "pop-baby" fifteen years old Tiffany. Daniel dumps Elizabeth while Buck escorts Tiffany to her guardian. He has never forgotten his date with Lizzie, who he fell in love with and has hoped for a decade for a second date, but knows the teen must come first. Though there is a serious undertone re Tiffany, NOT QUITE A MOM is an amusing contemporary romance with don't call me Lizzie's asides on life, men, sudden motherhood and best friends discerning yet entertaining. Buck is a great male lead as he fell in love as a football meathead teen and at second sight realizes he still is in love. Both try to do what is right for Tiffany who just lost her parents. As with NOT QUITE A BRIDE, Kirsten Sawyer provides an amusing chick lit tale. Harriet Klausner

Kirsten Sawyer's Not Quite A Mom is even better than her 1st book, Not Quite A Bride. I was excited to find out what would happen next, as Elizabeth encountered one challenge after another to find true happiness.
