Not Your Father's Paladin

Sometimes the legend doesn't match reality.

Paladin. The name conjures an image of a powerful and righteous warrior. Perfect in all regards, Paladins are renowned for their physical attraction, bravery, charity, kindness and friendly natures. A powerful ally to all who are good and a scourge to all who are evil, these warriors are personally selected by the Gods themselves and granted powerful gifts. Counting only a few hundred among the multitude of millions that call the Quellis Empire home, even so much as catching a glimpse of one fuels enough story and legend to entertain generations of descendants.

The town of Wren's End, encircled by the impassable Bear Teeth Mountains at the far western reaches of the Empire, is a quiet and idyllic farming community that is perfect for training fledgling Adventurers. The only exciting events that ever happen in this sleepy town are hearing rousing achievements of Adventurers that trained there. That is, until rumors that a Paladin was coming to town began to swirl among the population. The people and adventurers wished to see what the legendary warriors looked like, what they could accomplish and what one was doing coming to such an out-of-the-way town.

What arrived, however, was not a Paladin that matched the tales told in households across the land. The events that followed this one's arrival would change Wren's End, and the broader Empire, forever.
