Many people fondly remember this book. Nancy loves to play Nurse, but her older brothers are always too busy with their big boy games to play with her. One day, when brother Billy falls and hurts himself, Nurse Nancy is at the ready This lively, charming book from the 1950s is still fresh today.
Corinne Malvern's illustrations come from a time when Mother was always beautifully dressed, cheerful and infinitely patient, and the children were shiny and clean. However her illustrations do capture the movements and expressions of those children very well. I love all her books - Frosty the Snowman, Heidi, and this one. The word "joy" is very old-fashioned but so are her illustrations and so I would just say about this book, "Enjoy!"
My favorite book as a child.

I was thrilled when this book came back into print. My sister and I read it everyday. The new book even comes with band-aids, like in the fifties. I sent it to my sister as a get-well gift after a surgery. To this day in my family - when someone is sick or hurt we still say, "Better get Nurse Nancy." A classic.

I had this book as a child and when I was told by a friend that is was available again, I just had to get it. I remembered every word of the book and was so thrilled to see it still had the little red band aids. It was nice to see something from the past that hadnt changed. I even bought a copy for my friend.
