I browsed the biomedical library on campus, and checked out several nursing ethics books before I chose this one. Contrary to the other review I read of this book, the authors didn't really chose sides on issues - they gave both sides of the issue and gave sources for each angle of the argument. I actually liked this book - (considering that it was for a required class, that surprised me!) It actually made me re-consider a lot of the issues, even ones where I thought I had already decided. (How often does anyone / book make you actually consider your position on issues that you already feel strongly about?) Anyone can reconsider arguments on issues that aren't important to them - but what about those ethical positions that you really believe in. Are they logically thought out? Knee-jerk reactions? Did you base your logic on a faulty assumption? The book didn't particularly try to sway me to any specific position but it made me re-think some of the rationales that I had used to form my decision. End of story - I actually bought this book in addition to the required text.
