A textbook to read, not just carry or leave on a shelf

There have been textbooks that I have barely skimmed, but this is one I read and reread. This book was great. It was easy to follow and the examples and exercises actually taught me what I needed to know. It was very clear and explained concepts in a logical easy to understand way. I am a non-trad student with no computer background and this book helped me to enjoy something new.I strongly recommend it.I didn't see any typos, but then again, I read the book and understood it.

I used this book in class. It was very easy to follow and understand. Writen for those who already have some experiance with programming. The E.O.C. questions were very helpful. I did not care for the "Teachers Pet" program by the end of the semester, it just go too long.
The best book for student with prior programming experience
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 25 years ago
This is my C++ textbook in college. I found it extremely useful because the author taught me the complex theories in the simplest way. I like the exercises. There are only 3 to 6 programming exercises at the end of each tutorial (chapter), which motivate me to finish ALL the exercises, often in a single day. The experience of following the "Teacher's Pet" series of examples was fantastic, it helped me to understand the concepts, then, apply them in the exercises. However, there are weaknesses. The book is not up to date to match the latest version of C++. This book is also not suitable for those without prior programming experience (Pascal, C, C++ fundamentals, etc).
