Like Sudoku, O'Ekaki provides an entertaining test of one's logic, using a grid of boxes as its playing field. But rather than leaving the player with nothing more than a bunch of numbers, O'Ekaki ends with a flourish: an interesting piece of art that evolves as boxes are darkened until the puzzle is successfully completed. It's a puzzle that utilizes both sides of a person's brain And each puzzle's title is an amusing clue to the picture that will finally emerge. Simple instructions are included at the front of the book to get one started along with some useful tips. The puzzles challenge on several levels, from one pencil--beginner--to five pencils--expert--all resulting in a sometimes quite elaborate picture. Many of the O'Ekaki puzzles in O'Ekaki Heaven have a spiritual theme to their outcomes. Still, don't be fooled; some of the more difficult puzzles can be downright devilish
I am always looking for more of my new obsession and this did not fail to hit the spot.
The best

These have evolved to be the most fun puzzle that I like to do. I think this author's puzzles are by far the most elegant in the genre. Compared to other Nonogram/Griddler/o'ekaki/sudoku by numbers/etc puzzles, these pictures are more intricate with detail when finished, so they're more satisfying than doing say, a heart, a key, or a smiley face, where everything is so symmetrical you're solving it based on the simplicity than following the clues. Hopefully he'll be around for a long time producing these books!

Nishio is my favorite author for these kinds of picture puzzles. They are well crafted, from easy to challenging, and not too big. For my preferences, I don't like counting over 35 squares... i prefer 25. On many you get to a point where you don't think there is any more moves & you find the one clue and it leads to many more moves. Very satisfying and the puzzles don't take too long to do.
The Ultimately Perfect Puzzle Book

What more can I say. If you love "hanji" or "pixel puzzles" or whatever you call them, this is the perfect puzzle book! With varying difficulties, I still managed, finally, to complete every puzzle, although I had to take two or three tries at a few of them. Good quality paper makes it possible to erase and start over. The binding of the book makes it possible to take along in your purse or pocket, bending back the spine when you're sitting in the doctor's office or on an airplane. Wonderful!!!! Nishio, you are my hero!
