Lightning McQueen from Disney/Pixar Cars cleans up the town in this Step 1 Step Into Reading reader Ready, set, GO Lightning McQueen, the rookie hot-shot race car, is screaming his way down the track on his way to winning the Piston Cup. But when he gets stuck in a slow little town called Radiator Springs, McQueen must learn a valuable lesson about friendship-fast. This beautifully illustrated Read-Aloud Storybook is the complete retelling of Disney/Pixar's Cars.
My son picks out books for me to read before he goes to sleep, he always picks this as one of them. He knows each of the car names and can "read" what each page says. I put "read" in quotes because he has each sentence memorized. Regardless, I'm impressed! So if I point at the words "Old Car" he'll say it, but when I point to the car, he'll say "Mater" The pictures are renderings vs illustrations, so they'll look just like the characters in the movie.

This is a very simple book based on the Pixar/Disney Cars movie. It is their "Level 1", meaning it is for absolute beginners to begin learning reading. The "Level 2" book, based on the same movie, has longer sentences and actually tells a greatly simplified version of the movie's plot. Both are perfect for their purposes. My three year old son loves both and can actually "read" the books to me. I'm not sure how much he is actually reading and how much he just memorizes, but he is definitely learning!
The boys loved it

My 1.5 yr old will sit and listen through the entire book. Most other books we can only point to the pictures as he won't sit and listen to the story.
My 2 1/2 year old's favorite book

We don't let him watch TV/movies, and I've never seen "Cars" either - but we love this book just the same. It's has simple rhymes which are fun for him and easy to memorize for me. We even recite the words in the car without the book around. The book has held up reasonably well given all the use it gets and that it's a paperback.
