Here's a lively retelling of the familiar nursery rhyme that gives readers the inside story--inside the shoe, that is--on what the old woman really does with all those children. There's no spanking them all soundly here. Our Old Woman has lots of fun with her busy brood--and gets a sweet reward in the end. Full color.
Everyone one has heard the Old Mother Goose Rhyme of the Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe, well Lonnie George updated this rhyme and made it even better! And then to have Becky Kelly illustrate his book was a match made in heaven! Yes, the old woman is still a busy Mom, but really what mom isn't. The mother is busy, but I feel in a very lovingly fashion and not like the old mother goose mom who seemed overwhelmed, over worked and generally unhappy with ALL of her children. Becky Kelly illustrated this book beautifully using her trademark soft water color style. Her subjects are usually filled with adorable children. Not just blonde hair blue eyed children, but children that could easily be from other countries as well. That's why I think this book would be perfect for all families, but especially perfect for blended families where one child might be biological and has a sister or brother from adopted domestically, or Internationally. A family loves you for who you, regardless of matching eye or skin color!
