In this delightful new novel, popular author Roxanne Henke strikes a familiar chord with readers as she introduces us to the Westin family and their "someday" plans. Claire Westin has spent her adult... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book landed right into the middle of my 50's and applied so much to where that decade can bring us. Roxanne Henke weaves wonderful stories with believable characters who face realistic challenges in life. Many of us can identify with the "we'll do it later" mindset, postponing important relationship changes and even dreams for an obscure future date, only to watch impending calamities interfering with that future. Roxanne's characters do not live a sterile, imaginary existence without real trial and hard decisions. You'll very much enjoy how they ride their particular roller coaster to a fine finish.

We all have "Somedays"

Everyone has a "Someday". We all have plans to do things "someday"...work on relationships, pursue that hobby, read that book, have a cup of coffee with a friend, get that vacation in, retire...the list goes on. Enter Jim & Claire Westin, a couple hitting "middle age" and "retirement". Claire has been teaching at a community college and Jim has focused on Westin Foods, his grocery store. Jim would like his son, Drew, to take over the business, but Drew is in New York working in finance with no plans to move back to North Dakota. As a teacher and librarian facing the "someday of retirement", I recommend this book highly. When Claire's mother dies, her father is at loose ends and asks Claire and her sister to clean out her mother's "stuff". Claire finds a tub of unfinished projects that goads her into finishing the book she always wanted to write. THE FRIENDSHIP FACTOR is finished and sent to the publisher. No one is more surprised than Claire when the book becomes a best seller and she begins speaking tours. In the meantime, Jim buys another grocery store in another town AND an old Dodge Charger that he is going to fix up "someday". When Jim is faced with a major health issue, Claire comes face to face with a choice that is life-altering. Jim is forced to make life changing decisions as well. If you are planning to read only one book this month, pick ON A SOMEDAY. It is thought-provoking, especially if YOU are putting off something for "someday" and if you are looking at retirement in the future. The story is one to which most people can relate and makes the reader think about that coming "someday".
Friendship's best author

On a Someday is about the dreams we all have and wonder if we'll they'll ever come true. As Claire finds herself facing some very tough decisions, I could relate to her dilemma and wondered about my own path. Told in three points of view, you see a family striving to make their individual dreams come true while contending with the relationships that enrich their lives. Roxanne Henke is a master at writing stories about deep friendship and family, and each of her books has been filled with memorable characters that live on after you turn the last page.
