Need a last-minute batch of cookies for the holidays? Is the cookie jar running low on favorites? From simple, traditional chocolate chips to elegant Apricot Nut Biscotti, you can have classic and original cookies quickly without starting from scratch every time. Each of the fifty cookies in this book originates from one basic butter dough but tastes and looks completely different. One Dough, Fifty Cookies features an innovative and imaginative array of cookies including Cappuccino Wafers, Chocolate-Dipped Coconut Sticks, Malted Milk Buttons, Cinnamon Chocolate Moons, and Oatmeal Raisin Ginger Coolnes. These recipes provide a simple way to bake cookies with no hassle, consistent results, and a variety of shapes and flavors for any and every occasion.
I seriously love this book. The Malted Milk buttons, Zesty almond lime sticks..... all are great. These are the two original favorites from my first use of the book 10 years ago. I made a whole tray of 10 different kinds. I felt so accomplished going to a family gathering! Show stopper when walking into a room full of accomplished cooks coming across 3 generations. Since then I have bought this book for many people, on many occasions: birthdays, hostess (put in a basket of goodies or even prepared dough) weddings, Christmas... I make extra Zesty almond sticks for me so I do not have to share and I make a separate tin of malt buttons for my father in law... We all enjoy these cookies. I truely appreciate this author. Very helpful and practical tips making it fun to bake. Worth every dime to own this book.

This little book is worth every penny. Don't judge it by its size (it's tiny), because it really packs a huge number of tasty cookies into one small space! There is one "master" cookie dough recipe to which various things are added to make everything from basic shortbreads to gingerbreads to chocolate chip cookies to thin, espresso-chocolate crisps.Since each "master dough" recipe makes enough for two full recipes of cookies, making party cookies or cookies for presents is easy. And if you don't want to make so many cookies at once, the dough freezes well so that you can make fresh cookies at the spur of the moment!I own probably 15 cookbooks for baking desserts, but when I want something fast and delicious, this is the one I go for every time.

This is a great book for anyone who is frequently called on for those PTO bakesales or fellowship hour at church. I also like how easy it is to make a variety of cookies for those Christmas Teacher/Friend gifts. The dough also freezes very well for those last minute desserts or cookies to bring to an event. A must have for anyone with a stand mixer in their kitchen.
Cookie Monster Says Yum!

First thing to realize is that all these recipes are really different. This book doesn't cut corners by changing the sprinkles on top. The fifty recipes are all unique and from looking at them, you would never guess they start from the same batch of dough. However, if you are merely a culinary production tool for cookie-consumer with an appetite of fabled dimensions, well, who cares? All the cookie monster wants to know is, "Is it yummy?"And the answer is yes. For each and every recipe.
