After reading his first murder mystery, As The Twig Is Bent, I was struck by the way author Joe Perrone managed to combine the tenderness of a detective's relationship with his wife with the blunt, almost insulting violence necessary to make a successful murder mystery. I'm happy to say that in Opening Day, the sequel, Mr. Perrone has done it again...perhaps better. Opening Day is a fast-paced, suspenseful mystery that once again manages to blend the horror of murder with the every day humanity that reflects most of our lives. Although I don't fish, I appreciate his use of the sport to provide respite between the action. I highly recommend this book...and not just to women!

All the characters are memorable, believable, and spark the readers curiosity as to what will become of them. The author's vivid and detailed description of characters, setting and events in the story make you feel a part the small town. I found myself really eager for this awful crime to be solved!

A Great Mystery

Opening Day: A Matt Davis MysteryI am a retired Federal Lawenforcement Officer and reading "Opening Day" brought back memories of some of my old difficuilt cases. I am also a fisherman and enjoyed the descriptions of trout fishing. The author used a different style by having three stories going on as well as the main story. This is an easy reading book but keeps your interest. A great Book.
Figure Out The Killer

Really enjoyed this book. Kept me guessing right to the end as to who the killer was. Unique approach to a murder mystery, with so many suspects - sounds like Agatha Christie !
