As a review book on orthopaedics and comparing with the previous edition, this edition doesn't success. Much error on proofreading, as in the section on pediatric spine -- wrong figure and omitted numbers. As for the content, it tries to be concise but leaves you to consult many other references in vain. The previous edition explains the topics quite well. As for spine, this edition adopted a more conservative view and quite pathetic on the outcome. I hope the editorial board will improve it in the next edition.

This is an excellent review book of current topics in orthopaedic surgery. It is written by experienced surgeons, and a quick review of a chapter can provide a significant amount of information. Non orthopaedic surgeons, or surgeons just starting their residency, should be careful, however, because the book assumes a certain fundamental knowledge base. As is typical of a review book, some chapters are clearly better than others.
