A self-directed guide for anyone preparing for the OTR certification exam. This text includes 450 questions, along with an answer key and a suggested reading list for further reference. It is divided... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Sladyk's study book was one of the major tools I used to prepare for the OTR exam. Her inclusion of explanations to the answers (both right and wrong) was the most useful feature of the guide, providing the reader with instant feedback and info. A suggestion for future editions would be to include references with the answers so the reader could access additional information. Occasionally there would be an answer that I didn't understand and I REALLY wanted to read more about it, which isn't always an easy (or quick) task when you're not sure where to look first. Also, this study guide does not reflect the recent format change of the NBCOT exam. The exam now asks questions in a more problem-solving/case study style rather than the "reciting facts" edge it apparently used to have (or at least so I had heard). The NBCOT Study Guide (although pricy at $40) was very helpful with enlightening the reader with the new flair of question format. Karen Sladyk has also published (through Slack as well)a box of OT study cards, which are SO GREAT. I owe a friend of mine (Libby) bigtime for giving me these handy cards. Wow. Concise. Granted, they don't go into extreme detail, but Sladyk and her colleagues choose words wisely for the limited space. Don't shove these in the closet when the exam is over. They're too useful! Best of luck for anyone studying for the next OTR exam.
