In this day and age of fragmentation (in the church and the nations), Layton calls the reader to ascend the heights and view that nations as God does - purchased and owned by Him in Christ through the Cross. God's intent is to win nations and all that entails (individuals, families, communities, structures, ideas, and institutions). This thrust will be challenged today by pluralistic ideas that demand that we keep things "separate" - i.e., keep God and His Word out of economics, education, civil spheres, etc., and by implication, confine God's word to the church, the individual, and the family. These erroneous ideas strip the Gospel of its nation-transforming and nation-blessing power. Layton gives plenty of examples of how the Gospel has, is, and will impact nations. What is required of the church is a change of vision, and then a trust in the wisdom of the Holy Spirit to teach us how to serve nations in God's name. Psalm 86:8-10, "Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord, nor are there any works like Your works. All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, and shall gloify Your name. For You are great, and do wondrous things; You alone are God."
