First off, let me say that if you are wanting to read a romance novel then this book is not for you! It does have a lot of explicit sex in it, but the science fiction in it is crazy! I loved the book though because I like to think out of the box. It was really funny at times also, I found myself laughing out loud. I was a bit shocked that the library carried a book with explicit sex scenes. And to think that before I knew about that I almost let my teenager read it! I would have probably enjoyed the book much more without all the XXX, but I don't want to be a hypocrite: the sex made the book real and sensual. Ms. Shalvis was a new to me author; she'll be an auto-buy, now. OUT OF THIS WORLD is a delightful, campy, touch-of-paranormal contemp romance. I don't know how else to describe it. It's one heck of a good-time, sexy read. Shalvis has her finger on the pulse of setting, characterization, and dialogue.
