Chris Enss offers compelling sketches of some of our most notorious bad guys. What sets her apart from the many other books on this topic is her attention to fact and a sense of place and time as opposed to romantic lore. She did her homework and it shows. OUTLAW TALES OF CALIFORNIA is a great read that doesn't have me coming out of my seat saying "That's not right!" A good source for the dark side of real California history.
