When Shad Wakefield goes after his partner's killer, he learns that the murder has been blamed on him. Heading the vigilantes who are out to hang him is none other than Shad's boss, Luke Crane. Jake Rumbaugh, a power-hungry newcomer, is the real killer of both Shad's partner and the owner of the Craddock spread. Shad rallies a group of ranchers to bring the outlaws to justice, but when they rescue Craddock's heirs, Lucy Craddock is reluctant to be rescued because she's convinced that Shad is her uncle's killer. Pursued by the gang, they head for the mountains. In the high-country wilderness, Shad must deal with the contentious Miss Craddock while outwitting and out-shooting a bunch of killers.
