I am from Puerto Rico and had the opportunity to meet Mr.Odishelidze way before the publication of the book. We did not talked about the book but he impreesed me. With the book I learned a lot that I did not know about the Island.
Amazing Facts!

This book provides a point of view from an outsider who has more interest in solving our case than our own people do. This book is a must read for all puertoricans and for the US taxpayer. It is not perfect, but it's an eye opener. Myself being a former statehood supporter that now favors independence, recommend this book to anyone interested in how the last colony in the world is still surviving.
A Great Source to Learn about the Puerto Rico - USA Relationship

I read this book and was amazed at how much you can learn about the island of Puerto Rico, especially from someone that didn't come from there (a Russian native). The book does a great job in pointing out the different options for Puerto Rico's future and the challenges ahead. It does the best attempt at being impartial, although the author states that he favors statehood as the best option. The macroeconomics' chapters from Dr. Laffer are a bit dense to follow, but very relevant to the statements of the book. Mr. Odishelidze explains very well how his background as a Russian citizen to a Canadian resident, a US soldier stationed in Alaska to a New York City entrepreneur and later a Russian-Puerto Rican businessman have provided him a broader view, which he shares with us in this book. This view is lacking for many who have always been on the island or on the US Mainland.
To understand Puerto Rico you MUST read this book

Many people in the United States mainland do not understand the Puerto Rico quagmire and the implications of the colonial status of the island. But what is worse is the cost to the American taxpayer of corporate welfare and its cost in the self determination of Puerto Rico. Odisheldize and Laffer put hit the nail right in the head. Any responsible U.S. taxpayer need to read this book. And any self respecting Puerto Rican needs to read this book and understand what is our reality.
