Leanna is used to being center stage at playtime, so younger brother Norman always gets the boring roles. When Norman becomes tired of being the cat, he goes off to play on his own. Before the day is out, brother and sister have learned to play together so that everyone is happy
This is the kind of children's book that both adults and kids love. I've read it to several groups of 4th graders and one group of 5th graders and they were enthralled. Pearl has promised to look after her little brother in a pet store (did I mention Pearl is a mouse?) and she watches with horror as he is chosen to be placed in a snake's cage for the snake's next meal! Luckily the snake has a very full stomach and Pearl has time to try to save him! This is a true winner, well-written and full of adventure! Why is it out of print????
Pearl's Promice

I really liked Pearl's Promise because at the end of every chapter, the suspense was killing you. There was everything a reader could ask for. Mystery, action, (a little) romance, and plenty of things for the younger reader. The book is about a mouse named Pearl and her adventure trying to escape the pet store, save her brother from the vicious snake Prang, and to keep her family together.
