Part 1 of an abandoned trilogy

I was seriously disappointed to find out that this was the start of a trilogy that will almost certainly never be finished. Shortly after this book was published, the author’s husband died, and she’s never returned to writing. She has a blog where she periodically promises to publish again and to finish this series, but it’s been thirteen years, so I’m not going to hold my breath. I loved the book, as I did most of the author’s other books. I just wish it hadn’t ended with a cliffhanger that’s never going to be resolved!
