A vivid and absorbing historical novel of intrigue and romance by a mistress of her craft. Newly re-issued in paperback. In the winter of 1593, Nimue, daughter of Queen Elizabeth's 'other Welsh wizard', has left London for North Wales to find her destiny. The playwright Will Shakespeare follows her as his Dark Lady, but she has met Merlin Pendragon, the scarred lord of Pendragon tower, and feels they have shared a passionate bond in the past. With his occult learning, Pendragon recognises Nimue's own spiritual power as her father's 'wise child'. Against the background of land-greed and fever for the newly-discovered Welsh gold, superstitious fears of witchcraft and the snows of winter, Nimue and Pendragon come together but are parted by violence, terror and fire... The story continues in PENDRAGON: THE HAND OF GLORY also available from www.lulu.com
Yes, this book is slightly confusing. Once I got the hang of it I couldn't put it down. It is a thinking book-sometimes I had to stop and sort out the details in my mind. K. Wright sometimes goes into a scene then tells you what happened leading up to it-that is what is confusing. This is in Queen Elizabeth's time NOT King Arthur's. I can't wait to read the second book! Give it a chance-read it twice if you need to.
