I like that there are recipes for fruit tarts and galettes. I've tried the Pat-in-the-Pan crust for my cherry tarts and it's turned out excellent without having to chill anything. I'm sure you can find variations of this "pate sucree" online for free but having it all in a book is nice. There is a "Pick-A-Crust" Pie Wheel and several charts in the book that tells you which crust is best for which kind of sweet/savory fillings. These few pages are worth the price of the book alone. None of the recipes are overly fussy and that's what makes it appealing to me and can be done in one short session. Recipes include meat pies, country quiches, french tarts, picnic pies, chocolate cream pies, custard and lemon pies, fruit and pudding pies. Includes a small sampling of slump, crisp, pandowdy, cobbler, croustade, galette, clafouti and mincemeat.
Nice addition to any cookbook collection

I really liked this book. I think that this book is very well organized. I was also impressed with how thorough the book is. There is a graph that shows you what crusts would taste good with different types of pies, ie for a Custard or Cream Pie the crusts that would be good are a Snickerdoodle Cookie Crust or a Buttery Crust or a Cream Cheese Pastry... There are so many delicious looking pictures it is hard to decide which pie to make. The recipies are easy to follow and uses easy to find ingredients. I made the Peanut Butter Pie and the Chocolate Silk Pie. They both were really good!
