Perfect Scriptures - Imperfect Translations

The author maintains that multiple translations are an invaluable asset for Christians in their understanding of the Bible. Christians are deeply indebted to the translators for their laborious efforts. However, when ambiguous passages present themselves, each translator is inclined to rely on his particular theological background for resolution of the passage in question. Thankfully, many of these interpretations are accurate and helpful. But since errors can exist in all of man's theology, interpretations of these difficult passages can sometimes fall short of the truth. This book was written to help prevent any of God's Word from being lost in translation. It provides sample Scriptures, accompanied by a variety of translations, to aid readers in becoming more familiar with the difficulty faced in translating certain verses. When comparing a particular passage in a number of translations, it becomes evident that these verses can be expressed in multiple ways, and that often these different ways can contradict each other. The author encourages Christians to embrace a bold confidence in relying on the Holy Spirit to assist them with understanding all Scripture, and especially the obscure passages, as they meditate on the context, parallel verses, and other resources to help them discover God's intended meaning.
