In the author's own words, this book is crazy. In it you'll find over fifty ways to turn sensible pictures into incredible photo fantasies--and do it so well that the trickery is virtually undetectable. Build the perfect body without visiting the gym. Combine characteristics of different people to create photographic offspring. Give a new meaning to "boilerplate" type. Become a photo cubist. If you are well-versed in the basics of using Photoshop Elements, this book will let you alter reality. Wild Design a magazine cover featuring your face, or put your best buddy on a $50 bill Make a photo look like a still from a 1950s TV show or a 19th century tintype Encase objects in glass spheres or turn a photo into a watercolor or sketch Turn a still photo into a sports action shot or completely change the background Trick out text to look gold-plated, chiseled in stone, pounded out of metal, or as if it came from an old typewriter
Totally Worth It **** Yes it's has problems *******

Yea it has it's problems but there is no wrong way to tweak a photo... Some of the text is so small you need a magnifying glass to read the "settings" for some of the projects... BUT what really is the right or wrong way to increase or decrease a filter (meaning how fuzzy of fuzzy do you want it)... And tracking down the internet site to grab the stock photos is a trick too as I'm sure you have read from the previous reviews... No question about it - somebody really didn't print this book up to well at all.... But you will learn so much about the program from this book that I highly recommend it. Especially if your getting ready to jump into "Photoshop" which is a complicated program for new people unfamiliar with it. I would have been mad if I paid full price for this from the get go but for it's reduced price now (after the fact) it makes it a must have in my opinion. It was a fun way to learn the program and I look forward to the other books too, which I'm sure have there problems... But if you don't know what your doing with the program this is a great beginners book to get started with. And yes the Elements Programs are a watered down version of the Superior Photoshop itself - BUT it's a very complicated program and for all it's worth spending some time with Elements isn't a bad stepping stone. Also you can do all and any of the books for Elements with just Photoshop itself - but are you good enough to know your way around?
Good but not as good as PSE3 Down & Dirty Tricks book

Photoshop Elements 3 Down & Dirty Tricks by Scott Kelby book is better than this one. The step-by-step is more clear and easy to follow in PSE3 DDT book. Gone Wild has few skipped the step-by-step, yet it is still good. The creativity from this book is amazing. You will still enjoy this book though. I am glad to own this book.
Great book and easy to learn.

What a Great Book!

This is an outstanding collection of some wild and crazy effects that you can make with Photoshop Elements. The book is all color and the techniques are easy to follow. The first thing I did was put my brother's face on a $100 bill. It was easy and it looked real. There is a whole section in the book just about how to convert photos into art - so cool. The author doesn't waste pages but immediately begins showing how to covert photos into all kinds of great things. If you want to take your digital photography to the next level, this is the book for you. I would write more, but I am in the middle of putting my mother-in-law's name on a tombstone - this book is just too much fun to be legal.
