The real story of Pocahontas is a 9-10 year old little girl that is forced from her tribe and preyed upon by adult colonizers. There's no way this woman named "Mari Hanes" has infused this story with anything other than colonizer propoganda. There's nothing cute or "breathtaking" about it. This is the most white-washed and culturally insensitive book I've seen in a long time. If you buy this one, you might as well admit you're into the white-Christian erasure of indigenous culture and that the heinous crimes committed against real children mean nothing to you.
