Poetry of Separation: One Year One December morning, Deborah Rands Cullen discovered that her husband had been carrying on a years-long affair with a family friend. She left her husband and home and began the difficult transition to single life. Poetry helped her survive. She saved the poetry from that first year of separation almost as an act of solidarity and support for herself and what she had suffered during that time.
