I read this book to my daughter as a precocious little girl. She loved it! She made me promise that when she was grown that I would give her the book. So when she had her own son I bought her a copy of her own. The illustrations are wonderful! It helps a little child think about whether or not getting their own way is always what they really want.

This book came quickly and as described. I was excited to get it as it is out of print and was a favorite with my daughter when she was little.
I know Pookins, but not by that name.

After reading Pookins for the First time, we were convinced that Helen Lester and Lynn Munsinger knew our daughter, Lucy. This is a delightful story about a precocious little girl, similar to our friend, Eloise. This story can be enjoyed by children and adults alike, many of whom will undoubtedly recognize the heroine as their own child. I wonder if Pookins and Tacky are cousins?
