With the Porsche 911 Buyer's Guide, author Randy Leffingwell has created the most comprehensive resource ever available to guide you through the potential pitfalls of purchasing one of these fabulous automobiles. This year-by-year guide will help you select the model and year that is best for you, which features you need and which to avoid, and what flaws to watch out for.
But don't stop there. This book is only the start. You must still do much more research before plunking down your hard-earned cash on your dream machine. Visit technical forums on the net such as Pelican Parts and Rennlist and pick the minds of other Porsche enthusiasts. Many of them have owned several Porsches and are a great resource.
Must read for used 911 buyers

I'd suggest this is a must read if your going to be buying a used 911. It gives you everything you need to look for in each model year and a reasonable amount of history on the marque to boot. It could probably go into a little more detail on the faults and how they are rectified/managed so that you have a little more info if your actually buying a model that has a known fault. But a very good book that I would recommend.

I thought this book was great. This book tells you everything you need to know about Porsche's 911 series. If you read this book I bet you will learn more than reading Car magagines. The book will tell you what kind of Porsche is best for you, and it gives a thorough review of each module. I recommend this book to people that know what a car is.
An absolute must!!

Get off the web sites and get yourself a copy of this book if you are considering buying a 911. It two hours you will learn more than if you read 25 magazines. There is a year-by-year review of each model year. It points out the pros and cons, what to look for, what is should cost. This puppy is jam packed with helpful color photos (e.g. where rust spots might develop), but the spec charts are what really help. Check it out and you will end up in the right 911 for you.

The author gives a thorough review of the 911 models, with a chapter devoted to each year. Idiosyncrasies and problems with each year are noted. An excellent tool for the first time buyer or someone moving up to newer model of 911. This is a good companion to Patrick Paternie's Porsche Redbook.
