My masters thesis was creating a training program for Presentation Skills. Mr. Peoples' work was one of my constant sources for finishing the project, and his book is thorough enough for anyone who may find themselves in a public speaking situation. A few things stood out about his book from the number I have read. The author presents an outline format that is easy to follow and should be followed. One of his innovations here is suggesting that the presenter write the conclusion before the introduction. This is so simple, it's brilliant. Most people feel they have to start from the beginning and sit there for days trying to think of something catchy. It almost never works. The author suggests writing the conclusion right after writing the objectives. This will give the presenter time to think of something memorable after working on the topic. Another part of this book that really impressed me is the 60 Tips in 60 Minutes. These tips should be practiced until they become automatic. Before you know it, you will have automatically become a great presenter. Here's another tip. Buy the book now. Don't wait for Presentation Surprise. Start now. You only want to be thinking of the topic when the assignment comes.

This book is awesome. I am a professional speaker and trainer and it has helped me immensely. Whenever I sit down to write a new seminar, I refer back to its tips to guide me. The best suggestion in the book is to give the audience a selfish reason to listen to you within the first two minutes. David Peoples also suggests writing your closing first so you know where you are headed. All of the tips are easy to understand and relevant. There is quite a bit of discussion about overhead transparencies and I think most people use Powerpoint presentations these days, but most of those concepts for creating effective slides apply to Powerpoint also. It also gave me a lot of confidence since I knew I had covered all my bases by using this book to prepare. I highly recommend it for those who speak to groups for a living or make presentations as part of their jobs. I am also going to add it to my website as part of my suggested reading list. Buy it!

If you could only have one book on speaking and presentations, this should be the one! I've taken numerous speaking and presentations courses, won speaking contests, and I still learned many things from this book. It covers everything from controlling nervousness to why presentation skills are important.
A Good Tool for any Business or even Students.

I have checked my University's library and find that there's very few book about this topic. I find Mr. Peoples' book full of experience and advices. I almost want to rate this book (paper back version) 10 marks, but I found the charts as well as the page layouts are sometimes just demonstrate the down sides of good presentations. Hope the next revised edition can look into this and use some more "updated" cliparts as well. the printing and paper used are also need improve. Brian Wong, Hong Kong.
