It starts out as innocent deception, borrowing not stealing of a beautiful dress for prom. Every girl who wore the dress has to pay a price that destroys the girl. From the dancer, to the nurse, to the genius, to the piano player. Rowena is the ultimate villain, making all the pretty girls pay for her birthmark. It's an intense story, leading the reader all over the city and with the dress glowing softly, beckoning even more girls to wear it's beautiful scallops. It's only a dress... right? Wonderfully written and with great pacing, it's been one of my favorites for years.
