"There is no tie between the two cases," Ed Flanders, retired FBI agent turned non-fiction writer, told himself. "One elderly couple whose deaths might be accidental. The other couple's grandson in prison for their murders." Ed frowned. Truthfully, he had only agreed to look at the cases because he was flattered to be consulted. When his research brings the grandson's guilt into question, Ed begins to dig deeper and uncovers a spider web of coincidence that points to a serial killer, one who disables or kills elderly couples and burns them in their houses. Aided by an old colleague and a medical examiner, Ed searches for the identity of the killer. The killer, meanwhile, has discovered Ed's search. The hunter becomes the hunted.
