Here is the only guidebook available in English on romantic Québec City. This guide reveals everything about the magnificent architecture of this UNESCO World Heritage Site and about Québec City's... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Lots of great walking tours, and a lot of different options for restaurants, lodging, and stuff to do. The maps were quite helpful when I went to Quebec City for the first time. In many ways, this book is better than similar guides as it is written by local authors and published by a Canadian company, so there is inside knowledge of the area. Absolutely wonderful restaurants that do not appear in other publications are listed here. But this is not a perfect guide. The language section consists primarily of standard French phrases rather than ones more likely to be heard in Quebec, and it is a bit smaller than what most travellers would find useful. This is a concern because the Quebec dialect of French is comprehensible to French speakers, but it can be significantly different from that spoken in France or taught in schools. An addition of local phrases would be of great use. Why the language section is so light is uncertain. Overall, though, I recommend this and other publications from this publisher for the traveller going to Canada. If I get to Montreal or other areas in French speaking Canada, I will be sure to get the equivalent versions of this publication for my trip.
