Radical Love: Following the Way of Jesus

The way of Jesus is a radical letting go of anything that separates us from divine love and an embracing of that which leads to beatific union with God. That which we love becomes central in our life, all else pales in importance. Radical love reveals to us the secret of the universe: that all is one and one is all. Radical love dispels the illusion of separation. To love as Jesus loved is to love indiscriminately. Because he loved in the name of God, all were lovable to Jesus, even the greatest offenders and the worst of enemies. Radical love moves us to loving kindness, compassionate action, and dedicated service to others. The book explains how even the radical love of God cannot enter our heart without our willingness to receive it. We are pursued by this heavenly suitor until we succumb to the beloved of our soul. Then we know the purpose of our life: to be at one with God now and for all eternity. Even a moment's absence from God throws us into a terrible longing that ends only when we are one again in prayer and meditation. Prayer and meditation become our lifeline, our root, our heartbeat. We are acutely aware that our personal bounty is from God, yet our radical love for God is not tied to dependency or gratitude. We love God for God's sake alone. +
