The Ransome series is interesting, characters well developed. My only issue would be that it is difficult to read with the way the people spoke at the time....so it slowed me down in reading......I also had to research some of the words used referring to the ship, et al....but that's ok as I learned some "maritime"/sailing ship words/parts/speech. All in all it was an ok series especially the first and second book in the series. The third book had one of the female characters "disguised" as a male sailor, performing the duties a male sailor would.....hard to swallow that as upper body strength is needed....but that is where the author decided to go in that third book......so I skipped over some of that and headed for the finish/exit.
