This book is more from a scientific point of view. I found it very interesting to read about the differences and similiarties between wild and pet rats. It also has a good chapter on food and what to feed them and why, which I found helpful and important. While this is not a book for a small child, it is good for those who are interested in not only the care and feeding for rats but also the scientific points about rats. I would recomend getting a few other rat books first though - I also enjoyed Rats: Complete Care Guide by Debbie Ducommun as well as Training Your Pet Rat (Training Your Pet Series) by Gerry Buscis.
