This book is filled with colorful pages that catch the eye and have good fundamentals for student learning. There are multiple chapters including Textbooks, Nonfiction, Fiction, Poetry, Drama, etc. The topics within the chapters are explained well and easily, and there are activies for comprehension. A great text!

I have used this book year in and year out. It is a one-stop shopping center for reading strategies in all content areas including math, English, science, history, and foreign languages. Other chapters include how to read textbooks, the Internet, tests, even a driver's ed manual. Most of the book is devoted to material an English teacher would find useful such as how to read fiction, non-fiction, and drama. Each chapter covers before, during, and after reading strategies and they also include a variety of easy to use graphic organizers. I use this with an "Intro to High School" class I teach that focuses on academic success. The organization and layout of the material is very user-friendly. I can plan a lesson on one of the chapters very easily. This book literally saved my life!
